Here’s Why HBO Really Crushed this Year’s Emmys

Did you see the Emmys? It was a great night for diversity. But what really caught my attention was the fact that the big winner of the night was HBO—and not just because of its programming.

I want to know the name of the genius at HBO who figured out a way for FOX—a direct competitor—to pay for a three-hour long advertisement for “Game of Thrones,” “Veep” and other HBO shows, not to mention Andy Samberg’s blatant endorsement for HBO Go by sharing his login and password on air.

And in case anyone’s volume was down, FOX went one step further by running an on-screen graphic!

HBO is noted for its creative geniuses. In this instance, however, I’d say the genius who orchestrated this publicity coup should get her own Emmy (or at the very least a healthy bonus.)
