Coffee with KP
WHAT IS COFFEE WITH KP?: Coffee With KP is a one-hour group informational meeting with industry professionals over a virtual coffee chat. Since the stay at home orders were in place mid-March 2020, I’ve hosted over 100 1-hour daily zoom sessions where I invited over 100 of my industry friends to talk about what they do, how they do it, and how you—my young entertainment job seekers— will do it too. It was a way to stay connected to your career goals and get introduced to industry professionals in a non-intimidating and super fun way. It has been nothing short of magical, and I’d love for you to be part of the magic too!
WHEN IS IT?: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am PT/1 pm ET
WHY WOULD I WANT TO ATTEND?:
1. GROW YOUR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK: Growing your professional network can be intimidating. I want to take the intimidation out of the equation and invite you to meet some of the most successful people working in entertainment today in a comfortable, live environment over Zoom. I want you to have a front-row seat and the ability to ask questions to industry pros and establish a relationship.
2. EXPOSE YOURSELF TO VARIOUS JOBS: This is the perfect opportunity to expose yourself to professionals and jobs you never even thought about. For example, after our last session, one of MyGrads has been working as a PA for 2 years with the intention of wanting to be a writer. After hearing 3 Entertainment attorneys speak this year, she is changing direction and going to law school!
3. GET ADVICE FROM SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE: Over the next few months, you’ll get access to successful people and ask for their advice. Trust me, we’ve all made mistakes and wish we had some do-overs. Learn from other people’s mistakes and see how nothing can’t be learned from. In October, you get to talk with experts like Oscar-nominated film editors (Ford v. Ferrari, Greatest Showman, Deadpool and more), Directors (Community, The Mindy Project, and Fresh off the Boat) Music managers, Executive Producers (Real Housewives of BH, OC, The Hills, Botched), Agents, managers, HR executives and more!!
WHAT WILL I GET FROM IT?:
Opportunity to ask questions LIVE to hard to reach executives and other industry pros
Network with like-minded 20-somethings working or aspiring to work in entertainment
Exposure to various jobs in entertainment from the people who are currently doing those jobs
